Oliver Tambo

Oliver Tambo was elected as the deputy of the ANC to president Chief Albert Luthuli. When the ANC was banned he was sent out of South Africa by the leadership to open mission offices in the newly independent African states. At the Kabwe Consultative Conference he was elected as president and in 1991 he handed over the reins to Nelson Mandela.
